Syracuse Time & Alarm is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Fire Alarm Technician to lead the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm systems across commercial and residential properties. This role demands a deep understanding of fire alarm systems, safety protocols, and code compliance to ensure reliable and high-quality service. The Senior Fire Alarm Technician will also serve as a mentor to junior team members and contribute to the successful execution of projects from planning through completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation & Maintenance:

Install, test, and inspect fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72 and local fire codes.

Program, configure, and troubleshoot fire alarm control panels and connected devices.

Perform routine and preventative maintenance to ensure system reliability.

Diagnose and repair issues efficiently while maintaining system safety and compliance.
Technical Leadership:

Act as a subject matter expert in fire alarm installation and servicing.

Lead and train junior technicians, ensuring consistent workmanship and compliance with standards.

Conduct quality control inspections to verify adherence to code and company guidelines.

Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to streamline job completion and communication.
Project Support & Documentation:

Assist in the planning and execution of fire alarm projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.

Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications with precision.

Maintain thorough documentation of installations, service requests, and inspections.
-
Provide clear communication to clients about system performance, required repairs, and recommended upgrades.
Compliance & Safety:

Ensure all work complies with NFPA 72 and 101, as well as local building codes and fire regulations.

Follow and enforce OSHA standards and internal safety procedures.

Conduct routine safety checks on job sites and maintain a safe working environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

5–7 years of hands-on experience in fire alarm installation, service, and repair.

In-depth knowledge of fire alarm components, control panels (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Notifier).

NICET Level II or III in Fire Alarm Systems preferred.

Proven experience with both commercial and residential systems.

Familiarity with NFPA codes and local regulations.

Security/alarm licensing a plus.

Excellent communication, both written and verbal.

Proficiency in reading blueprints and interpreting technical documents.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders or scaffolding.

SCHEDULE

Full-time position, Monday to Friday.

Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required based on project needs.
